Obesity is the main target in the US government's latest dietary guidelines, which are revised every five years and emphasizes on restoring energy balance to people's diet. These guidelines gives an emphasis on fibre- and nutrient-rich whole grains instead of refined grains and recommends to eat nearly twice the quantity of fruit and vegetables, so as to lower the risk of certain cancers, diabetes, stroke and obesity.
