Forecasting Andean rainfall and crop yield from the influence of El Nino on Pleiades visibility
Article Abstract:
There is a strong monotonic connection between El Nino/Southern Oscillation (ENSO), an interannual climate fluctuation, and mean monthly temperatures in the central Andes region. There are warmer mean temperatures in the central Andes during El Nino years. Substantial reductions in potato yield are seen in warm ENSO years. It has been established that poor visibility of the Pleiades in Jun indicates an El Nino year, which is usually connected with reduced rainfall during the growing season some months later.

Tropical flip-flop connections
Article Abstract:
The study aims to find the change that northeastern Brazil underwent from its usual semi-arid state to a wetter climate, implying a persistently southward-shifted Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). Further, it argued the presence and duration of the wet periods from the growth patterns and ages of mineral deposits, called speleothems and travertines, in the northern part of Bagia state in Brazil.

Predictability of El Nino over the past 148 years
Article Abstract:
The retrospective forecasts of the interannual climate fluctuations in the tropical Pacific Ocean is presented using a coupled ocean-atmosphere model. The evolution of El Nino is controlled to a larger degree by self-sustaining internal dynamics than by stochastic forcing.
