Free histidine as a metal chelator in plants that accumulate nickel
Article Abstract:
The coordination of the amino acid histidine with nickel (Ni) in the Ni-accumulating plants of the genus Alyssum is responsible for Ni tolerance and transport in the plant tissues. Treatment of the non-accumulating species, A. montanum, with histidine increases Ni tolerance and transport into the shoot xylem. Treatment of the hyperaccumulating A. lesbiacum with Ni increases the amount of free histidine in the xylem sap, which complexes with nickel in vivo.

Ionic liquids and eutectic mixtures as solvent and template in synthesis of zeolite analogues
Article Abstract:
The preparation of aluminophosphate zeolite analogues using ionic liquids and eutectic mixtures as solvent and template is described. The results suggest the possibility of multiple frameworks from the same ionic liquid system and the formation of thousands of zeolites is predicted through computational enumeration.
