Genonomics: Gene expression meets genetics
Article Abstract:
Genome-wide genetic analyses of gene-expression data bridge the gulf between classical geneticists, who look at differences in DNA sequence between individuals and try to correlate them with behavioural and physical differences, and gene-expression analysts, who focus on the differences in the genes being activated. Discusses the research, accompanied by a moouse model of the genetics of gene expression.

Genetic analysis of genome-wide variation in human gene expression
Article Abstract:
A successful determination of the genomic locations of genetic determinants that influence the variation in levels of gene expression between people is presented. The combination of microarray techniques for phenotyping and linkage analysis for quantitative traits allows the genetic mapping of determinants that contribute to variation in human gene expression.

Control of gene expression by a natural metabolite-responsive ribozyme
Article Abstract:
A new class of ribozyme that cleaves the messenger RNA of the glmS gene in Gram-positive bacteria is identified. These findings suggest that ribozyme switches may have functioned as metabolite sensors in primitive organisms, and further suggest that modern cells retain some of these ancient genetic control systems.
