Germany stunned by institute closures
Article Abstract:
The Max Planck Society announced the closure of four institutes because of insufficient government funds. The society singled out the Institute for Aeronomy, the Institute for Biology and the Institute for Human Ethology for immediate closure while the fourth one has yet to be named. Many people in the German scientific community expressed disappointment over the closure and stressed that the loss of the institutes would adversely affect the domestic and European scientific field.
