GroE is vital for cell-wall synthesis
Article Abstract:
A first definite identification of an essential GroE-dependent E. coli protein, dihydropicolinate synthase (DapA) has been identified. Cells deprived of GroE lyse due to a failure to make cell walls, and lysis is due to lack of diaminopimelic acid (DAP). Replacement of the native groE chromosomal promoter region with the araC gene and araBAD promoter, created a strain reliant on added arabinose for continued viability and GroE production.

Therapy of tuberculosis in mice by DA vaccination
Article Abstract:
DNA vaccines aimed at preventing infections were also found to have a pronounced therapeutic action in mice. They were found to switch the immune response from being relatively inefficient, giving bacterial stasis, to one that kills bacterial. The application of such immunotherapy together with traditional chemotherapeutic antibacterial drugs may lead to faster and more certain cures of mycobacterium tuberculosis in humans.

Cell therapy
Article Abstract:
Cell therapy aims to replace, repair or improve the biological functions of damaged tissues or organs. It involves the transplantation of cells to a target organ. Many disciplines, such as cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, tissue engineering, transplantation biology and materials science, are required for the therapy to be successful. The function of cells as implants is considered.
