Strike threat over jailed primatologist
Article Abstract:
Brazilian scientists are planning to go on strike over the imprisonment of a renowned primatologist. Dutch-born primatologist Marc van Roosmalen is convicted for keeping monkeys in a rehabilitation facility at his Manaus home without permits, auctioning names of new primate species to wealthy donors and selling materials that were donated to his former employer, the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA) in Manaus.

Ethicists and biologists ponder the price of eggs
Article Abstract:
Ethicists and others are considering about the compensation received by women donating their eggs for the research purposes. A task force of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) guidelines, which was released on June 30, 2006, has provided an opportunity for a more liberal policy on compensation by stating that a local oversight body should review stem-cell research projects.
