Hell on no wheels
Article Abstract:
The crash of an advanced prototype train in Germany that killed 23 passengers casts a shadow on magnetic levitation technology and raises safety issues, making it more difficult to gain final approval for a proposed airport shuttle in Munich. Supporters of the project refute Munich mayor Christian Ude's safety claims, and transport specialists around the world are split on whether the crash suggests that the Transrapid International, which aims at developing maglev trains, is unsafe.
