Highly controlled acetylene accommodation in a metal-organic microporous material
Article Abstract:
A report on high levels of selective sorption of acetylene molecules as compared to a very similar molecule, carbon dioxide, onto the functionalized surface of metal-organic microporous materials (MOM) is presented. The acetylene molecules are held at a periodic distance from one another by hydrogen bonding between two non-coordinated oxygen atoms in the nanoscale pore wall of the MOM and the two hydrogen atoms of the acetylene molecule.

Article Abstract:
A computer simulation provides an explanation for using highly disordered, porous particles as seed to obtain highly ordered protein crystals. The crystallization rate is found to be maximum for pore diameters somewhere between the wide and narrow extremes and it is these optimally sized pores that dominate crystal nucleation on a microporous substrate.

Article Abstract:
A canny use of a coordination polymer to store molecular oxygen [dioxygen, [O.sub.2]] as an ordered array of three molecules or as a regular one-dimensional chain over a wide range of temperatures is reported. Confining oxygen in an array would give an unprecedented insight into the properties of confined gases.
