Methylation mystery
Article Abstract:
Tiny RNA molecules called microRNAs are believed to function by causing the degradation of matching messenger RNAs, however that might not be their only mode of functioning. There are various models that support the action of the RNA molecules but there are no data to support either of the models and hence the mechanism remains a mystery.

Induction of DNA methylation and gene silencing by short interfering RNAs in human cells
Article Abstract:
A demonstration that short interfering RNAs induce DNA methylation and histone H3 methylation in human cells is presented. The double-stranded RNAs(dsRNAs) induce post-transcriptional gene silencing in several species of animal and plant(super1-2).

Oncogene inactivation in a mouse model
Article Abstract:
Research describing the use of a designer ribozyme to inhibit the invasion of tissues by leukaemia cells in mice is presented. The use of this ribozyme or maxizyme could be used during bone marrow transplants.
