The Boston Resource for Animals, Vegetarians and the Environment concluded a lobster liberation activity by paying a price of $90. The five lobsters freed from a lobster tank in the Bread and Circus market were first made to adjust to a more natural environment before they were released.

The Library Cat Society was set up by Phyllis Lahti, after she rescued a cat which went to live at a Minnesota library where she worked. The aims of the society, and Lahti's work with animals, are examined in detail.
