Incipient speciation by divergent adaptation and antagonistic epistasis in yeast
Article Abstract:
The key predictions of speciation theory are tested by the initial stages of speciation in experimental populations of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The results have shown that adaptation to divergent environments promotes the evolution of reproductive isolation through antagonist epistasis, thus providing evidence of a plausible common way to speciation and adaptive radiation in nature.

Structural analysis of a eukaryotic sliding DNA clamp-clamp loader complex
Article Abstract:
The crystal structure of the five-protein clamp loader complex of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, bound to the sliding clamp is reported. The model provides a simple explanation for the process by which the engagement of primer-template junctions by the RFC:PCNA complex results in ATOP hydrolysis and release of the sliding clamp on DNA.

Complex evolution
Article Abstract:
The periodic gene transcription associated with the cell-division cycle is investigated from four different organisms to determine how individual members of crucial protein complexes are regulated. It is indicated that there is great diversity in transcriptional networks and their regulation both within and between species.
