Japan maintains research funding boost...
Article Abstract:
There will be a rise in science spending across all Japanese government ministries of 4.9% in the fiscal year beginning Apr 1, 1998. This is in line with the country's five-year plan for science and technology, which commits the government to increasing investment in research by 50% in the period 1996 to 2001. There will be a particular increase in funding for projects aimed at limiting global warming. This follows Japan's decision to commit itself to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6% from 1990 levels in the period 2008 to 2012.
