Journals submit to scrutiny of their peer-review process
Article Abstract:
A study of peer review was carried out with three medical journals namely The Lancet, Annals of Internal medicine and the BMJ by a team of researchers who examined all relevant papers, including confidential referee reports and video editorials. This qualitative study is expected to explain issues such as the criteria that editors use when deciding to review or reject articles, how interactions at editorial meetings shape publication decisions as well as improve public understanding of peer review.

Curators bugged by museum's vision for insect collection
Article Abstract:
Entomologists, by 2008, are planning to replace the mahogany cabinets that house the 28 million insect specimens at the Natural History Museum in London by a metal shelving and a sophisticated humidity control system in a striking new building at the museum's South Kensington site. Researchers and curators describe the move as a 'retrograde step' for research, as there is not enough space set aside for several parts of the collection to be examined simultaneously in taxonomy projects.
