Landscape analysis of tiger distribution and habitat quality in Nepal
Article Abstract:
Researchers conducted a study to report on the geographic distribution of tigers in Nepal in relation to habitat quality. They interviewed local people and used previous studies and data from digital thematic mapper satellites to identify four populations of tigers. They found that good quality habitats supported breeding populations, areas with marginal good-quality habitats were used occasionally, and poor habitats were never used for breeding purposes.

Distribution of population declines in large mammals
Article Abstract:
A 1994 study questioned the notion of catastrophic animal population declines, showing that declines of 70% to 90% occurred more frequently than declines of 25% and 70%. Reported population declines are biased toward those of larger proportion. Multiple declines often result from the same catastrophic event. Some reported declines have been shown to be duplicates.
