Give the hunger-striker a break
Article Abstract:
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) should seek an agreement with Walter Stewart and Ned Feder about their research on scientific fraud. Both are NIH employees, transferred away from their work after criticizing historian Stephen Oates. Stewart recently ended a 33-day hunger strike over the reassignment. The two have annoyed people, but their work is valuable. Even their so-called plagiarism machine is useful in ferreting out both fraud and self-deception.
