Life at the cutting edge
Article Abstract:
Biologists, planetary scientists, and engineers have gathered in southern Spain to test a robotic drill that might one day be sent to probe for life beneath the surface of Mars. Planetary scientist Carol Stoker of the Ames Research Center heads the Spanish project, called the Mars Analog Research and Technology Experiment (MARTE), and she hopes that their drill technology could be adapted for Mars.
