Looking for Grauer's Gorilla
Article Abstract:
A survey organized by the Wildlife Conservation Society and Institut Zairois pour la Conservation de la Nature in Kahuzi-Biega National Park found that the park holds 2,000 elephants and 6,000 Grauer's Gorillas, indicating that the forest ecosystem is still intact and healthy. Grauer's Gorilla lives only in eastern Zaire. The survey demonstrated that Kahuzi-Biega National park needs increased protection and attention from the international conservation community due to the limited ability of the government of Zaire to carry out conservation measures.
