Loring Vinson Tirrell, 1896-1975: a brief biography
Article Abstract:
University of New Hampshire Professor Loring Vinson Tirrell contributed significantly to the field of animal husbandry and livestock research. He earned his B.S. degree in Animal Husbandry in 1920 from the Massachusetts Agricultural College and M.S. degree in 1940-41. An outstanding teacher, Tirrell received the Alpha Zeta Outstanding Teacher Award from the university in 1963. Professor Tirrell was also known for his livestock extension program throughout New England.

David Willard Williams, 1892-1985: a brief biography
Article Abstract:
David Willard Williams was born on Aug 20, 1892 in Vendocia, OH, where he finished public schooling. He graduated with BSA, MS and honorary LLD degrees from Ohio State, the University of Illinois and Austin College. Williams was appointed as a USDA extension animal husbandman at the Clemson Agricultural College. During his stint in Texas and the Southwest, Williams exhibited much influence on the development of the area's livestock industry.

Lyman J. Bratzler, 1905-1976: a brief biography
Article Abstract:
Lyman J. Bratzler was one of the most distinguished academics in the field of animal science. Born on Sep. 24, 1905, Bratzler grew up on a dairy farm and this fostered in him an enduring interest in agriculture. He was educated at the University of Illinois, from which he received his B.S. degree in 1930. Bratzler later on became a teacher who had few equals in his ability to stimulate the desire for knowledge in his students.
