Article Abstract:
A combination of chemical impurities and an external, variable magnetic field is used for manipulating the innate magnetism of a crystalline ferromagnet. The results have shown how random field effects in a ferromagnet can be tuned in a simple and standard laboratory measurement and also a quantitative route into the realm of Griffiths singularities.

Ultrafast non-thermal control of magnetization by instantaneous photomagnetic pulses
Article Abstract:
Circularly polarized femtosecond laser pulses can be used to non-thermally excite and coherently control the spin dynamics in magnets by way of the inverse Faraday effect. Thus an alternative mechanism of ultra fast coherent spin control is revealed, offering prospects for applications of ultrafast lasers in magnetic devices.

Laser-induced ultrafast spin reorientation in the antiferromagnet TmFeO3
Article Abstract:
The two primary classes of magnetically ordered materials are ferromagnets and antiferromagnets. The fundamental difference between them is their reaction to an external magnetic field.
