Mechanisms of gene silencing by double-stranded RNA
Article Abstract:
The mechanisms of RNA gene silencing, and the roles of the proteins that makes up the cellular posttranscriptional RNA silencing machinery is reviewed and presented. Better understanding of the mechanisms of RNA silencing will shed light on human disease and the development of robust biochemical and other methods for the dissection of the function and mechanism of RNA are expected to provide many more insights into RNA silencing machineries.

Protection against enteric salmonellosis in transgenic mice expressing a human intestinal defensin
Article Abstract:
An in vivo model of enteric defensin gene expression has been developed using transgenic mice. The research shows that the mice, which received an epithelial-derived defensin were extremely resistant to virulent strains of salmonella bacteria. The article concludes that it may now be possible to engineer this defensin for use in other mammals.

Skin deep but complex
Article Abstract:
The antimicrobial peptide LL37 is required for normal immune responses to infection, but in the autoimmune skin disorder psoriasis, it has propagated disease by forming complexes with host DNA.
