MicroRNA-mediated repression of rolled leaf1 specifies maize leaf polarity
Article Abstract:
MicroRNAs constitute a class of developmental signalling molecules, which are found in regulatory genes in animals and plants. It is shown through an experiment that microRNA 166 constitutes a highly conserved polarizing signal and the expression pattern of this polarizing signal is also mentioned.

A macho way to make muscles
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the application of the mosaic theory of development to the development of muscles in animals. The molecular identity of the determinants of muscle in the egg is discussed.
