Modern Insect Extinctions, the Neglected Majority
Article Abstract:
Two types of extinction are identified that commonly occur among insect species but rarely do so among other taxa. These are extinction of narrow habitat specialist species and coextinctions of species linked to the extinctions of their host species. More research on these two types is urged.

Metapopulation Extinction Risk under Spatially Autocorrelated Disturbance
Article Abstract:
An evaluation is presented of extinction models, comparing and contrasting nonspatial, classical models and those that solely consider spatial structure. Findings show that both methods may significantly underestimate species population vulnerability.

Extinction Rate Estimates for Plant Populations in Revisitation Studies: Importance of Detectability
Article Abstract:
The capture-recapture method is shown to be a more accurate tool for assessing extinction rates in plants than conventional methods, especially if populations are not equally detectable across the groups being compared.
