Movement of paradise shelduck between moltsites: A joint multistate-dead recovery mark-recapture model
Article Abstract:
A mark-recapture analyses combining data from live recaptures of paradise shelduck at multiple banding sites with reported recoveries from birds shot by hunters was presented to analyze the movement of paradise shelduck between molting sites. The findings suggested that at the third site an estimated 92 percent emigrated, but there was evidence that the emigration was temporary.

Estimation of swift fox population size and occupancy rates in Eastern Colorado
Article Abstract:
The Colorado Division of Wildlife initiated a study to assess the distribution and habitat affinities of the swift fox on the eastern plains of Colorado using live trappings as the survey method. The results on estimating population size, estimating occupancy rates and preliminary power calculations of a design for monitoring occupancy rates are summarized.

Multistate survival models and their extensions in Program MARK
Article Abstract:
The estimation procedures provided in Program MARK such as state-specific survival rates and encounter probabilities and transition probabilities between states are reviewed. The multistate model is a valuable framework to evaluate important ecological questions and Program MARK helps estimate the demographic parameters of various multistate models.
