Multiple rounds of speciation associated with reciprocal gene loss in polyploid yeasts
Article Abstract:
Yeast Gene Order Browser (YGOB) is used to compare six yeast species, three of which diverged after their common ancestor experienced a whole-genome duplication (WGD), and three of which diverged from this lineage before the WGD. The YGOB compares pairs of genomic regions from post-WGD species to single genomic regions in pre-WGD species.

Engineering evolution to study speciation in yeasts
Article Abstract:
Biologists have conducted the first controlled comparison of chromosomal translocation in yeast species. Coupled with the fact that complete genome sequences exist for several yeast species within the Saccharomyces sensu stricto group, the article concludes that limitless possibilities for study of species generation are now available.
