Control and detection of chemical reactions in microfluidic systems
Article Abstract:
The application of techniques cultivated in semiconductor industries have allowed the creation of a new instrumental platform capable of efficiently manipulating, processing and analyzing molecular reactions on the micrometre to nanometre scale. The challenge of developing such systems dictates the development and integration of sensitive detection systems that can process significant amount of information per unit time.

DNA amplification moves on
Article Abstract:
Amplifying DNA samples is dependent on high throughput analysis by microscale chip-based devices. The article describes the methods by which a new device is able to induce the necessary polymerase chain reaction through the flow of samples over heated blocks.

Elusive magic numbers
Article Abstract:
Gaps in nuclear levels, which cause nuclei with magic numbers of protons or neutrons to be especially stable, seem to be different for nuclei with an excess of neutrons. However, studies show that magic numbers are not as immutable as was thought.
