Nesting success of birds in different Silvicultural treatments in southeastern U.S. Pine Forests
Article Abstract:
Studies done on nesting success and levels of nest predation and cowbird parasitism among five different silvicultural treatments in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas from 1993 to 1995 is discussed. It is suggested that silvicultural treatments, when embedded in a largely forested landscape, may provide suitable habitat for forestland birds without affecting their reproductive success.

Effects of exotic habitat on nestling success, territory density, and settlement patterns in the Blackcap (Sylvia articapilla)
Article Abstract:
Research investigates whether habitat changes caused by black locust influence the breeding behavior of Blackcap birds. Results show that Blackcaps preferentially settle where black locusts are introduced and reach twice their density found in a natural floodplain forest environment. However, the nesting rate is much lower at 15.5% than 59% seen in the floodplain forest.

Response of vegetation and breeding birds to the removal of cattle on the San Pedro river, Arizona (U.S.A.)
Article Abstract:
Vegetation density and abundance of birds during the breeding season during 1986-1990 in riparian, mesquite grassland and Chihuahuan dessert-scrub communities in the National Conservation Area were monitored. The general finding was that removal of cattle was followed by increases in all groups of birds analyzed.
