A glycolipid of hypervirulent tuberculosis strains that inhibits the innate immune response
Article Abstract:
The identification and functional relevance of a highly biologically active lipid species, a polyketide synthase-derived phenolic glycolipid (PGL) produced by a subset of M. tuberculosis isolates belonging to the W-Beijing family that show hyperlethality in murine disease models is described.

The heparin-binding haemagglutinin of M. tuberculosis is required for extrapulmonary dissemination
Article Abstract:
Research describing the role of heparin-binding haemagglutinin adhesin (HBHA) in mycobacterial interactions in tuberculosis is presented. It is suggested that HBHA plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis and antibody response of tuberculosis.
