Neutrino deficit challenges conservation laws
Article Abstract:
Researchers working at the SuperKamiokande detector have reported an anomaly in their observations of neutrino interactions. This is in the relative number of electron-type and muon-type neutrinos present in cosmic rays. It has been established that there are far fewer muon neutrinos and anti-neutrinos than predicted. This raises the possibility that neutrinos of one type may oscillate into neutrinos of another type. It would be very interesting to obtain firm evidence that the lost muon neutrinos still exist in another form.

Nuclear and subnuclear boiling
Article Abstract:
Stephanov, Rajagopal and Shuryak have applied the theory of phase changes to expand an analogy made originally by Niels Bohr. Stephanov and colleagues are concerned with the possibility of second phase transition when nuclear matter is compressed. They propose a variety of ways to identify the subnuclear boiling critical point, and finding this position will shed light on aspects of quantum chromodynamics.

Precision precession
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the discoveries which are being made in the forces affecting the precession of elementary particles within magnetic fields. The magnetic moments of muons are discussed.
