No upward trends in the occurrence of extreme floods in central Europe
Article Abstract:
The authors have investigated winter and summer floods in the largest rivers in central Europe for the past 80 to 150 years. They have demonstrated the reduction of winter flood occurrence while summer floods show the trends consistent with extreme precipitation occurrence, and have concluded that river length reduction, deforestation and reservoir construction have minor effect on flood frequency.

Europe-wide reduction in primary productivity caused by the heat and drought in 2003
Article Abstract:
Measurements of ecosystem carbon dioxide fluxes, remotely sensed radiation absorbed by plants, and country-level crop yields taken during the European heatwave in 2003 are reported. Results indicate that ecosystem respiration decreased together with gross primary productivity, rather than accelerating with he temperature rise.
