Optical detection of liquid-state NMR
Article Abstract:
A technique for optical detection of liquid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is proposed, based on the rotation of the polarization of a laser beam by the nuclear spins in a liquid sample. The complementary effect of the rotation of light polarization by nuclear spins is measurable and is enhanced greatly in samples containing heavy nuclei, and such two-dimensional optical-NMR spectroscopy could be useful for interpretation of circular dichroism data in complex molecules.

The mass of the missing baryons in the X-ray forest of the warm-hot intergalactic medium
Article Abstract:
The number of baryons detected adds up to just over half of the number that is actually present, meaning that about approximately 45 per cent are missing. Determination of the mass-density of a previously undetected population of baryons, in the warm-hot phase of the intergalactic medium is reported.

The speed of information in a 'fast-light' optical medium
Article Abstract:
Research reveals that information propagaion through a fast-light medium takes longer than the time it takes to detect it travelling through a vacuum.
