Non-volcanic tremor driven by large transient shear stresses
Article Abstract:
The stresses and their timing on the subduction interface is quantified by using synthetic seismograms that match the surface waves of the Denali earthquake on Vancouver Island, Canada. The analysis has indicated that tremor and slow slip can be induced by shear stress increases on the subduction interface, which is effectively a frictional failure response to the driving stress.

Extent, duration and sped of the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake imaged by the Hi-Net array
Article Abstract:
A Hi-Net seismic array is introduced for directly imaging earthquake rupture that uses the first-arriving compressional wave, and is potentially able to produce detailed images within 30 min of rupture initiation. The Hi-Net seismic array imaged the magnitude of ~9.3 for Sumatra-Andaman earthquake, which had the longest ever recorded duration and extent.

Relationships in a slow slip
Article Abstract:
The size and duration of disparate, slow, low-amplitude earthquake processes' fundamental seismic parameters and the relationships between them that are different from those of regular earthquakes are described. The implications of the new scaling law are explored by assuming two possible relations for how fault offset grows with fault length.
