Opal analogue discovered in a weevil
Article Abstract:
Beetles have a unique multilayer reflector on its rounded surface that acts as mirrors and when in direct contact of the sun, only a part of the beetle can be seen due to these mirrors. A Pachyrhynchus Argus beetle, found in the forest of northeastern Queensland, Australia, that has a photonic crystal structure analogous is described.
