Sequential allocation of offspring sexes in the hyperparasitoid wasp, Dendrocerus carpenteri
Article Abstract:
Many parasitoid species produce definite offspring sex ratios by laying male and female eggs in fixed sequences, during a single oviposition bout. The effect of order and quality of the host on the sex allocation of offspring is analyzed in a solitary hyperparasitoid wasp, Dendrocerus carpenteri. Female offspring are produced if the first host is of good quality; while a male offspring is produced, if the host was of low quality. The second offspring is of the opposite sex, irrespective of the host quality.

Article Abstract:
Associate olfactory learning in larval Drosophila is analyzed, using a reciprocal conditioning assay. The result provides a basis for future investigations into the cellular and molecular underpinnings of appetitive olfactory learning in larval Drosophila.
