Orographic control of storm zones on Mars
Article Abstract:
Continental-scale orography is responsible for the formation of storm zones on Mars, as the surface thermal contrasts which produce such zones on Earth are weak on Mars. Numerical simulations of global atmospheric circulation patterns on Mars indicate the presence of storm zones during the northern winter. The storm zones are probably important for the climate on Mars as they affect the transport of heat, water vapour, momentum, and atmospheric dust towards the poles.

Evolution of water reservoirs on Mars from D/H ratios in the atmosphere and crust
Article Abstract:
The presence of deuterium in the present martian atmosphere suggests that the reservoir of crustal water on ancient Mars was several hundred meters deep though the present-day escape rate of hydrogen in the martian atmosphere indicates six meters deep in the past. Deuterium has been studied in comparison to hydrogen ratio of hydrous minerals in the SNC meteorites of Mars. Even ancient fluvial networks on Mars's crust imply warm and wet conditions in the past.

Geology and insolation-driven climatic history of Amazonian north polar materials on mars
Article Abstract:
The history of geologic materials and features in the North Polar Region that span the Amazonian period are mapped and presented. Erosion and redeposition of putative circumpolar mud volcano deposits led to the formation of an Early Amazonian polar plateau consisting of dark layered materials.
