Otter catastrophe?
Article Abstract:
The death of several sea otters in Cook Inlet, Alaska, is discussed. Researchers have traced these deaths to the infection caused by the bacterium 'Streptococcus infantarius ss coli', which causes inflammation of tissues lining the heart valves. Plans to study sea otters in Lower Cook Inlet and Kamishak Bay are also discussed.

The great return to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Article Abstract:
George Schaller's return to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska in 2006, is discussed. Schaller, the vice president for Science and Exploration of the Wildlife Conservation Society, had his first journey to the refuge in 1956. Details of both the 1956 and 2006 expedition are also presented.
