The new findings question the central tenet of the metabolic scaling theory that size-dependent distribution networks exert the primary constraint on metabolic rates in vascular plants

Host shift to an invasive plant triggers rapid animal hybrid speciation

Article Abstract:

The first case in which hybridization between two host-specific animals is clearly associated with the shift to a new resource is reported. A hybrid host shift presents an ecologically robust scenario for animal hybrid speciation as it offers a potential mechanism for reproductive isolation through differential adaptation to a new ecological niche.
