Potentiation of neuroblastoma metastasis by loss of caspase-8
Article Abstract:
Study is conducted to show that the suppression of caspase-8 expression occurs during the establishment of neuroblastoma metastases in vivo, and that reconstitution of caspase-8 expression in deficient neuroblastoma cells suppressed their metastases. The findings define caspase-8 as a metastasis suppressor gene that, together with integrins, regulates the survival and invasive capacity of neuroblastoma cells.

Nuclear cytokine-activated IKK[alpha] controls prostate cancer metastasis by repressing maspin
Article Abstract:
A demonstration that a mutation that prevents IKK[alpha] activation slows down CaP growth and inhibits metastatogenesis in TRAMP mice, which express SV40 T antigen in the prostate epithelium, is presented. Based on the results it is proposed that tumour-infiltrating RANKL-expressing cells lead to nuclear IKK[alpha] activation and inhibition of Maspin transcription.

Pathophysiological consequences of VEGF-induced vascular permeability
Article Abstract:
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in cancer and ischaemic diseases has unexpected pathophysiological consequences. It is suggested that it might be feasible to reduce tissue injury after ischaemic disease and minimize the invasive properties of circulating tumor cells by blocking the vascular permeability promoting effects of VEGF.
