Adaptation to a novel host modifies host discrimination by the seed beetle Callosobruchus maculatus
Article Abstract:
A mass-selection experiment was performed in which replicate lines of a population associated with a small host were either maintained on this host, or were transferred to a larger host that can support several larvae per seed. The results from this experiment revealed that switching to a novel resource could produce rapid and predictable changes in a fitness-related insect behavior.

Prior oviposition, female receptivity and last-male sperm precedence in the cosmopolitan pest Callosobruchus maculatus (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)
Article Abstract:
The effect of prior oviposition and female receptivity to further copulation on the extent of last-male sperm precedence (measured as P2) is examined using the bruchid beetle Callosobruchus maculatus. The availability of oviposition sites between inseminations was altered to the extent of prior oviposition that was experimentally manipulated independently of the intermating interval.
