Prisoner's dilemma in an RNA virus
Article Abstract:
Evolutionary game theory predicts the outcome of pairwise contests between players using conflicting strategies. Viral evolution provides an opportunity to study the prisoner's dilemma. A viral genotype synthesizing larger quantities of products is essentially a cooperator, while a genotype synthesizing less, although specializing in sequestering ore of the products, is a defector. It has been found that evolution of phage at high multiplicities-of-infection (MOI) leads to prisoner's dilemma, which is attributed to the lack of clonal structure at high MOI.

From Cinderella's dilemma to rock slides
Article Abstract:
The problem of separating two different species of intermixed granular materials can be solved simply by pouring the mixture into a container. This is because in granular media, the vibration or rotation of two types of particles will result in their segregation and even an increase in the system's order. This phenomenon of spontaneous grain stratification may have crucial ramifications in industrial and geological processes. It may also contribute to an understanding of the geological puzzle of long-runout rock slides.

A strategy of win-stay, lose-shift that outperforms tit-for-tat in the Prisoner's Dilemma game
Article Abstract:
Pavolv's strategy representing the basic behavioral mechanism, win-stay, lose-shift, is more advantageous than the strategy tit-for-tat in the Prisoner's Dilemma game. Occasional mistakes can be corrected by Pavlov and it can utilize unconditional cooperators. Pavlov is more stimulating than tit-for-tat.
