Protection of telomeres through independent control of ATM and ATR by TRF2 and POT1
Article Abstract:
The damaged mammalian telomeres have activated both ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) and ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related (ATR) and the mechanism by which the shelterin complex represses these two important DNA damage signalling pathways are described. The results have shown how mammalian telomeres use multiple mechanisms for avoiding DNA damage surveillance and have provided an explanation for the induction of replicative senescence and genome instability by shortened telomeres.

RNA-mediated response to heat shock in mammalian cells
Article Abstract:
The heat-shock transcription factor 1 (HSF1) activation by heat shock is an active process that is mediated by a ribonucleoprotein complex containing translation elongation factor eEFIA and a non-coding RNA called HSR1 (heat shock RNA-1), constitutively expressed in human and rodent cells. HSF1 is present in unstressed cells in an inactive monomeric form and becomes activated by heat and other stress stimuli, and both HSR1 and eEFIA are required for HSF1 activation in vitro.

A message to the backside
Article Abstract:
Gore and Sampath tries to study the mechanism of axis formation in mammals following the progress of maternal as well as injected fluorescent ndr1 messenger RNA through the few cell divisions of the zebrafish embryo. Also, Nodal's early axis-determining activity can be used to find whether there are conserved pathways of axis specification in vertebrates.
