Protein purification: Fast forward
Article Abstract:
Protein structure determination, proteome-wide functional screens and the identification of protein interactions are some of the proteomics applications requiring thousands of purified proteins as a starting point. Researchers have many reagents and readily available kits for the isolation of protein to 90% purity, but their challenge is to adapt these methods to purify hundreds of different proteins in parallel using robotic systems.

Article Abstract:
The author reports that the architects believe that the design of new laboratories can provide stimulus for good science. Some architects are modeling lab layouts on real cities with 'street areas' for interactions and 'neighbourhoods' for retreat into smaller groups.
