Quality control
Article Abstract:
Studies of DNA gene-expression microarrays are found to be error-prone, and scientists, manufacturers and programmers are working to develop more reliable experimental protocols and controls and also practical tools that could help eliminate unnecessary variability from experiments and analyses. Problems occurring in RNA preparation, labeling, microarray experimental reliability and quality control and effective pre-processing of raw data are being examined for flaws to be rectified in order to make best use of the technique.

Vital statistics
Article Abstract:
DNA microarrays have given geneticists and molecular biologist access to a great amount of data, which was never possible before. A study conducted to investigate whether the researchers have enough statistical know-how to cope with the data, is discussed.

Tunnelling into the chill
Article Abstract:
In microfabrication, sensors are very small, light, and low temperature, which highlights the need for miniaturized refrigerators. The trend towards smaller electronic instruments has left the demand for refrigerators at a stand still.
