Regional IUCN Red Listing: the Process as Applied to Birds in the United Kingdom
Article Abstract:
The article evaluates the efficacy of guidelines created by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources for assessing a species' risk of extinction on a regional level. Using United Kingdom bird species as an illustration, it was found that the guidelines rely too heavily on subjective interpretation, especially regarding extralimital populations.

Inbreeding and Endangered Species Management: Is New Zealand Out of Step with the Rest of the World?
Article Abstract:
Research shows that inbreeding depression, despite purging opportunity, can be seen in many of New Zealand's endangered bird species. To thwart potential losses of genetic variation, it is recommended that genetic approaches be incorporated into conservation policies.
