Reinforcing access to research data
Article Abstract:
The science magazine 'Nature' assures selective public access to data and to research materials following the publication of the story. Structural coordinates, structure amplitudes and gene sequences, particularly in deriving macromolecular structures using X-rays, are now accessible through public databases. 'Nature,' as a condition of publication, holds the author responsible for supplying information to the public as it so desires. Thus, reports on genetically altered animals will only be published if the author agrees to supply the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) constructs upon request.

New recipe for a wee DRAM(dynamic random access memory)
Article Abstract:
There are three strategies essential to increase the capacitance per unit of the projected area occupied by an integrated capacitor, which represents digital bits in dynamic random access memories (DRAMS). The strategies include: a reduction in the thickness of the dielectric layer, increasing the capacitor area per foot print area of the cell, and the use of innovative materials for the capacitor dielectric. Foot print area of the cell can be increased by the introduction of three-dimensional structures such as trenches, stacks or by introducing microstructural roughness.

The best and worst of times: what winners will emerge from the battles over access to scholarly data?
Article Abstract:
New patterns of behaviour in scholarly research publishing are emerging. Scholars continue to rely heavily on peer-reviewed publication, but there is now a shift towards reading outside core publications. More material, such as laboratory videos and results databases, is now being attached to articles.
