Reinhart Heinrich (1946-2006)
Article Abstract:
Late Reinhart Heinrich, a hero in systems biology and a former professor at the Humboldt University, has pointed the way to considerations of optimality theory and evolution that will confront systems biology for the 22nd century. He is famous for his most important accomplishment on metabolic control theory published in 1974 and a prizewinning philosophical novel (Jenseits von Babel) [Beyond Babel]) and book of poems.

Separate domains of p21 involved in the inhibition of Cdk kinase and PCNA
Article Abstract:
The two separate domains of the protein P21 inhibit the two targets that are necessary for cell-cycle progression. The P21 is a protein stimulated by the tumor-suppressor protein P53. The amino-terminal domain inhibits the cyclin-Cdk kinases and the PCNA is inhibited by the carboxy terminal domain.
