Relating geomorphic change and grazing to avian communities in Riparian forests
Article Abstract:
The fluvial geomorphic processes and long-term grazing that influence the structural complexity of riparian vegetation and birds along the upper Missouri River in central Montana are studied. It is concluded that avian conservation requires maintenance of the geomorphic process, which is responsible for tree establishment, and management of land-use activities in riparian forests.

Prescribing food regimes to sustain riparian ecosystems along meandering rivers
Article Abstract:
An approach to identify natural flooding characteristics that must be protected to maintain riparian (floodplain) ecosystems along meandering rivers is described. An ecologically compatible water management approach avoiding flood alteration thresholds and using it for human purposes is suggested with reference to Yampa River in Colorado (USA).

Use of Riparian Corridors and Vineyards by Mammalian Predators in Northern California
Article Abstract:
Detection rates for mammalian predators were 11-fold higher for riparian corridor areas than in vineyards, and more predator species were present in wide corridors than in denuded or narrow ones. Additional comparisons between riparian and vineyard study areas are included.
