Richard H. Goodwin, a botanist and two-term president of The Nature Conservancy, established one of the nation's first environmental studies programs at Connecticut College. Under Goodwin's leadership, the Conservancy went on to become a nationally recognized conservation group with 11 employees and assets of $1.3 million.

Dick Goodwin: father of the land deal

The contributions of Richard H. Goodwin, botanist and a Nature Conservancy founder, are presented. Goodwin helped conduct the organization's land deals, in which the group buys land from private owners so that it can be preserved.
