Role of Mxi1 in ageing organ systems and the regulation of normal and neoplastic growth
Article Abstract:
Mxi1 is part of the Mad protein family and they function as antagonists against Myc oncoproteins. They are able to compete with Myc for DNA binding sites and the protein Max. There is a tumor-suppressor gene which is found at region 24-26 of chromosome 10, and this could be mxi1. Mutations in this region may be linked to a range of cancers. Mxi1 is a tumor suppressant in vivo, is involved in differentiated organ systems' homeostasis, and is linked to the Myc network in a functionally relevant way.

The BCL6 proto-oncogene suppresses p53 expression in germinal-centre B cells
Article Abstract:
The study reports that BCL6 suppresses the expression of the p53 tumour suppressor gene and modulates DNA damage-induced apoptotic responses in germinal-centre B cells. The results suggested that an important function of BCL6 is to allow germinal-centre B cells to tolerate the physiological DNA breaks required for immunoglobulin class switch recombination and somatic hypermutation without inducing a p53-dependent apoptotic response.
