Science's next generation finds its own way
Article Abstract:
The World Academy of Young Scientists (WAYS) is the first body to represent young researchers of all disciplines from all over the world. WAYS, inaugurated on 13 December 2004 in Marrakech, Morocco, accepts all science students and researchers under 40 who demonstrate an active interest in research and support the academy's goals.

Ecologists plot to turn the tide for shrinking lake
Article Abstract:
There is international backing for a scheme to reverse the ecological damage in the area surrounding Russia's Aral Sea. The lake itself is too damaged to be restored, but it is hoped that sustainable patterns of land and water use can be revived in the region.
